Does anyone else think it is extremely difficult to find the right Foundation?
I definitely do. I think the majority of us settle for one that does a mediocre job because we don’t have unlimited funds & we cannot possibly go out & try them all.
Who wants to fork out 20 odd quid for something that makes you look patchy, oily or crusty?? Not me sir!
I am one of the people that has settled for familiarity. I had been wearing MAC Studio Fix in NW25 from around the age of 18 (11 years…) because I thought it was brill & gave me a great coverage. I had tried other brands through friends giving me bottles that haven’t suited them but mostly I have been loyal to MAC.
Well up until recently anyway… as I have mentioned in previous posts I have oily skin & around 14:00 everyday I get an oily T Zone and my foundation would slide. I just thought this was normal and everyone got a bit oily through the day. Guys.. it is not normal, it just means the foundation isn’t right.
I heard really great things about Estèe Lauder Double Wear so I thought I would give it a shot. I spoke with the lovely lady at the counter in my local HOF, she colour matched me and assured me it is a full coverage that will mattify the skin. I took the risk of buying the full bottle and giving it a go and on this occasion I was lucky because it did not let me down! It has great full coverage, you cannot see my blemishes or pores, it doesn’t feel oily upon application and leaves a great matte effect… and guess what come 14:00 I don’t have sliding make up !!! WIN!
Now, I took a risk with buying the full bottle which I understand not everyone can or wants to do, as it is safer to stay within the realm of the comfortable with the foundation they have been using for years. However, brands like Charlotte Tilbury will colour match you over the phone (using your current foundation brand and shade) and send you lots of samples of there foundations, so you can try before you buy. This is a really great USP for high end brands like CT ,as not everyone can afford to risk it & it not work – so this encourages new customers and ensures you pay for a product that will work for you.
I am sure lots of other brands do this, go and speak to the ladies/gentlemen at the counter to colour match you, recommend you a foundation and get a tester.
Let’s not settle for the mediocre – your skin deserves more that that!!
