My Disney Tattoo by Toni Gwilliam

I have wanted a Tattoo sleeve for as long as I can remember, however, I know it is a bold and major move. Although I have many other tattoos, they can be covered and aren’t as noticeable as a full sleeve. I wanted to wait until I was in a company where I saw my career developing for the foreseeable future, know exactly what I wanted on my skin and too wait until I was in my late twenties, see if I was just as passionate about it and if I was…I would do it.

As you know I am DISNEY obsessed, it is so nostalgic, reminds me of my wonderful childhood and instantly makes me happy –  I wanted my sleeve to be full of Disney magic, the princesses I love and a constant reminder to be happy.

I spent ages finding the right person to do it and one day I stumbled across Toni Gwilliam on Instagram and I couldn’t believe how beautiful and girly her Disney tattoos were and I knew she was the one to do my sleeve.

Toni is based in Worcester which is around 2 hours from me but what is two hours for something that will be on your body for a lifetime?

I think the problem people have with tattoos and why the end up regretting them is this… they don’t go to the right tattooist.

People tend to go to their local tattooist who may not specialise in the specific tattoo design you want. Tattooist’s are artists and each of them specialise in different kinds of tattooing, just as a painter does, watercolour, fine art, surrealism etc. So if you want a traditional tattoo, find someone who specialises in that and if you want a portrait, then again, find someone. That is the beauty of Social Media, use it and don’t just go to your local tattoo shop because it is convenient.

I mean you wouldn’t go to an Indian Restaurant hoping to get Chicken Chow Mein would you?

Toni is amazing at her craft, her work has been published and she was recently nominated for ‘Best Newcomer‘ at the Tattoo Jam Convention. I feel very lucky to have her work on my skin.

We decided Belle would be the first entry to my sleeve, with my appointment in October to finish her rose and add Aerial…

This is her…

I cannot tell you happy I am with her, she is just stunning and I cannot wait to see all the princesses together.

Thank-you Toni and I can’t wait to see you in October

A x

    1. Ah thank you so much! When finished I will have Belle, Ariel, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzul and Moana, the castle with Peter Pan and the lost boys flying over and Tink ! That’s the plan currently & I’ll see if I have any space left πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ

  1. I’m probably one of the few people who just never really got into Disney. When I was a kid, I was super into horror movies and didn’t really care about the kiddie stuff. I did always love tattoos growing up though, and I knew I would always get some when I grow up. I currently only have 3 (two big ones on my thighs and a smaller one above my ankle). I would like to get more, but I’m also happy with what I have right now, so we’ll see. I got my two thigh tattoos done at the same local shop, but they were done by two different artists. The good thing about where I got them done is that they hire tattoo artists who specialize in different types of art and set you up with the artist who they think will meet your needs the best. Of course if you look at their portfolio and don’t like what you see, you can always choose a different artist or go elsewhere. The tattoo artist you chose is super talented! Your Belle turned out so amazing!

    1. I’m super into Horror Movies too!! I absolutely love them but I also love Disney… I am weird kind of girl πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
What are the tattoos you have on your thighs? I have one thigh done but I need the other doing, I’ll sort that once my sleeve is done!
That sounds like a good local shop – there’s nothing wrong with going to your local one, it’s just so important that you sit with a tattooist that’s style matches your tattoo… if your local tattooist matches what you want, then that’s amazing!
Thank you she’s so beautiful isn’t she, I can’t wait for them all to be complete

      1. I have a skull with roses around it on my right thigh. My dad always had multiple skull tattoos, and it’s just something we both have always liked. My skull is a little bit different because it’s colored (instead of the usual black/gray), and the eyes and nose of it is glowing a pretty blue color. On my left thigh, I have a dragon with flames. Above my left ankle (which was my first tattoo) is a scorpion (since I’m a Scorpio).

  2. This is just stunning! I’ve been thinking about doing a disney themed sleeve, specifically alice in wonderland as I am OBSESSED. The way your artist has executed this tattoo is exeptional, I’ll definitly have to search about to find the perfect artist and I think I’ll have a look into Tony first. Please keep us updated as your tattoo collection grows, I’m interested to see what it looks like when it’s done xo

    1. You’ve gotta just do it – if you’ve wanted one for a good while and not doubted those thoughts then just do it! Toni is absolutely incredible and if you want Disney then she is the best around! 100% recommend her! I shall post about all the tattoos as the sleeve gets completed πŸ’œ thank you so much for reading !
