Hi Christmas Elves,
Like I said in my Life Update & Blogmas Post, my Blogmas isn’t going to be 24 Posts about Christmas. Mainly because I don’t think I could keep it original but I also don’t like to stick to rules & because I haven’t blogged for a while, I have a lot to catch you up on. Therefore I am going to mix it up with Christmas and everyday Posts. Hope thats okay!
In October my Mum took me to Sketch London for a Late Birthday Present, very lucky girl indeed. Earlier in the Year I saw one of my favourite YouTubers, Brogan Tate go there with her Mum and it just looked brill & so different to a normal Afternoon Tea experience – I knew it was something I wanted to do.
The triple dream of launching a centre, a “lieu” or destination place, for food, art and music has been realised by Mourad “Momo” Mazouz and his team of chefs and designers over two expansive floors of a converted 18th century building in Conduit Street, Mayfair, London.
sketch is a complex and unique site. Conceived by French master chef Pierre Gagnaire and restaurateur Mazouz, it has attracted unprecedented media reaction for its myriad food, drink and entertainment styles since it opened in December 2002. Gagnaire’s culinary genius has inspired the menus throughout sketch. His eponymous Michelin three-starred Paris restaurant has a distinctive menu style, which Gagnaire had adapted for sketch. Executed by his acolytes, the food is imaginative, bold, ground-breaking and delicious. These two visionaries have come together to create sketch…
It really is like nothing else, it was like walking into the Tate Modern but being served really good food.
Afternoon Tea is served in the ‘Pink Room’… it was like Barbie’s Dream House! I was in pink heaven, even the waiters were dressed in a pink suit!
The Afternoon Tea started with caviar (vair posh dahling) and then a tower of beautifully constructed sandwiches, scones and cakes, were popped on the table. We were also given a book full of different kinds of Tea to choose from – it took us 15 minutes to choose which one we wanted.
The food was absolutely delicious – we even asked for more sandwiches, and more clotted cream for the scones obvs… who only puts a small amount on? You’ve gotta slather it on like cement on a brick or you ain’t doing it right.
Now let’s get to the main event… The Bathroom… not sure I have ever said that before but OH MY GOD! It was like nothing I have ever seen. The stairs looked just like those from the Beauty School Drop Out song in Grease, know which ones I mean? I just expected an angel type man to descend from the ceiling & start singing to me.
Some of the stairs had a Dipytque candle on it (you can imagine the smell… DIVINE) & the toilets were like space aged pods with multi coloured lighting. The coolest thing I have ever seen. I have never spent longer in a Bathroom.
The Afternoon Tea is more expensive than you would normally pay (around £70PP) however it was such an experience. The food was incredible & the building and theming was like nothing I have seen before.
I 100% recommend if you are in London & wanting to celebrate a special occasion.
