Blogmas Day 21 – Cheese Fondue & Christmas Cheer with Jack & Alice

Cheese goes with Christmas like Kylie Jenner goes with Lip Filler, you cannot have one without the other.

I am addicted to cheese. That’s right. My name is Abby and I am addicted to cheese. Hard Cheese. Soft Cheese. Creamy Cheese. French Cheese. Swiss Cheese. Italian Cheese. I am not prejudice to the country or animal it comes from. I just love it and I can’t live without it. I have accepted this & now it is my rightful path to live out my life as a cheese monger (no joke, dream job).

Christmas isΒ  like my Full Moon and I am the Cheesewolf, except I am not a lone wolf. All the Cheesewolf’s come out of hiding, we join together and throw our wheels of Brie to the sky in unison. We can live and eat freely without judgement when eating a whole camembert or a block of smoked applewood Cheddar like it’s apple, well…because everyone enjoys a cheeseboard at Christmas. It is a wonderful time where I can live my best life.

Before this becomes a eulogy to Cheese, I will stop and get on with my post.

Myself and my fellow Cheesewolf went to a local restaurant called Jack & Alice for our Christmas Get together. Jack & Alice has a laid back, intimate and modest atmosphere, that is all about good food being shared among friends. As well as their normal Menu, they have specialist Gin, Burger and Fondue Nights (Cheese & Chocolate) once a week. Jack & Alice is small and friendly business with 3 restaurants in Bucks and South Oxfordshire – if you are ever in the area and love: simple, sourced, humble food with a family feel atmosphere, it really is worth stopping by.

Of course we made our booking for the Tuesday night, so we could try the Cheese Fondue. The Fondue comes with roasted cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes and bread for Β£17.50 for 2 people or you can add on wonderful locally sourced Charcuterie for around Β£5.00 more.

It was absolutely divine, the cheese was mild and creamy – not overpowering, so you could taste the roasted cauliflower and delicious meats.

I then had a Sticky Toffee Pudding with fresh cream because I felt like I was really lacking in my diary count for the day…

Again, it was beautiful – soft, moist and indulgent. Just want you want from a Sticky Toffee Pudding.

I had a wonderful evening at Jack & Alice and I cannot wait to go back to try the Chocolate Fondue and the Breakfast Menu.

Thanks Guys for a lovely evening!

A x
