I don’t know about you but for the last 6 months I have seen a Coco&Eve advert every time I aimlessly scroll through my Facebook or Instagram feed. Everyday I have been forced to watch knotty, dry as shit hair become transformed to an ethereal beings pubic hair. Coco&Eve have plugged this product HARD. None the less, the bouncy hair forced upon me has been quite appealing. I have thought to myself on many occasions, I would like this…I am aware I am a marketing campaigns dream, show me something pink, pretty and reminiscent of an angels pubis enough times and I am all over it.
I went onto the the Website to purchase and girl, I was SHOCKED. A Hair Masque for £35. THIRTY FIVE POUNDS STERLING? THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED BRONZE PENCE COINS? Sir. This must be a sick joke. Jesus take the wheel.
I didn’t buy it. I could not in my conscious brain justify it and huns, I have brought some fuckin’ tat in my time.
Anyway, my friend found a deal on the website, the Besties Kit, you buy two Hair Masques for £54.90 – so it was £27.45 each. That is still a HEINOUS amount of money but by now I have spent so much time looking at these fuckin adverts: trying to justify the money, saying no, looking again, deleting out the basket and adding it again. that I was exhausted and shouted at my friend “Just get me the fucking fairy armpit hair masque and be done with it”.
So here it is – the famous CoCo & Eve Hair Masque and the question is posed.. is it worth £35?
Firstly, let me tell you a bit about the product and see if the ingredients include Rumpelstiltskin’s spun gold *Spoiler – it doesn’t*
Below info taken from Coco&Eve’s website
So this Hair Masque claims 5 in 1 benefits
- Restores dry damaged hair
- Improves hair texture and shine
- Hydrates and deeply conditions
- Treats split ends and tames frizz
- Transform your hair in only 10 minutes
STRENGTHENS & REPAIRS
Our raw virgin coconuts from Bali add shine and softness to the hair. They also strengthen and repair the hair by preventing hair breakage and split ends. The coconut penetrates deep into the follicles to help promote a healthy scalp and prevent problems such as dandruff.
Essence of fig and shea butter work in harmony to moisturise and help detangle the hair without making it heavy or weighing it down.
SOFTENS & SHINES
Linseed improves gloss and texture so it’s silky soft to the touch.
TAMES & TREATS
Argan Oil treats split ends, tames frizziness, to make your hair more manageable, whilst adding gloss and shine to give pure hair vitality.
This all sounds pretty good right? It has also won 2 awards in 2018 (The Beauty and Hair Awards) but does it actually work…
I followed the instructions, washed my hair, towel dried it and brushed the product through with the Tangle Teezer it comes with. I left it on for 40 minutes, although it does say 5-10 is enough but the longer you leave it, the better for the hair.
I admit, it smells pretty good, I like coconut and fig. It also brushes in nice but it is just a Tangle Teezer. After the 40 minutes, I washed it out and my hair did feel lovely and soft, once blow dried there was definitely a notable difference. It was shiny, thick and very soft. It does what it says it is meant to.
Would I buy it again? I don’t know. I really don’t know why it is that much. I have used other Hair Masques (Body Shop, Toni and Guy, Living Proof) and they have all made a noticeable difference to my hair and were under £15. I also don’t understand why you have to get a bloody brush each time you buy it? Guys, I only have one head of hair, as much as I have joked about the pubes today, I don’t require my own pube brush. They need to sell just the masque without the brush for cheaper.
So – is it worth £35? It is a good masque, it does what it says but no, I don’t think it is worth that much money.
